Documents relate to the Fourth International Conference of Women Engineers and Scientists, held in Krakow, Poland, 8-13 September 1975. Hilda presented a paper at the conference which was titled, 'The Functions of Law and Engineering in Promoting the Safe Construction of Motor Vehicles". Documents include:
A 30 page typescript account, written by Hilda, about her trip to Poland. The script refers to slides which are not present;
6 pages of manuscript notes made during the visit;
3 letters written by Hilda whilst in Poland and sent to her sister Dorothy Blount in England. Postmarked 4,6, and 8 September 1975;
2 letters written by acquaintances in Poland and sent to Hilda. Postmarked 26 June 1976 and 26 December 1976;
Acknowledgement of Hilda's proposed paper dated 3 March 1975 and an invitation to Hilda from Organizing Committee to speak dated 25 June 1975, together with her registration form and a letter to the committee about her paper;
Conference forms, invitations and travel papers including 3 maps;
Souvenirs including postcards (1 addressed to Dorothy Blount), and decorative cards;
A government leaflet in English promoting 'Polish Women' and a 38 page booklet produced by the Ministry of Labour, Wages and Social Affairs, in English titled, 'The Working Woman in People's Poland' including a large number of statistics and graphs, dated May 1975;
Conference lists of delegates and Hilda's conference badge.

Admin. history/Biography
Hilda Blount was a member of the Women's Engineering Society where she was President in 1988-1989. She was an attendee at several of the International Conferences of Women Engineers and Scientists and was one of the organisers of the second conference which took place in Cambridge in 1967.
