There is some overlap between the signed finance committee minutes found in this sub-series and the signed finance committee minutes which have been bound together with other committee minutes which can be found in IET/ORG/4/2. Whilst the underlying documents are the same the signatories are different. The minutes might be signed by the senior members of the committee, or the tables of figures might be approved using a finance committee stamp which has been initialled, or alternatively the figures might have been signed off by the Secretary of the IEE and the IEE's bank (where distributions are involved). From 1875 to 1920 (manuscript indexes from 1916) this sub-series is the sole source of signed minutes and the minutes are manuscript. From October 1920 and September 1959 typically typescript minutes signed by the committee members are bound in the volumes of Committee Minutes (ref. IET/ORG/4/2), whilst typescript minutes signed by other parties (such as IEE Honorary Treasurer and Martin's Bank) can be found in this sub-series (Later minutes are marked as the secretary's copy). In 1971 the committee was absorbed into the General Purposes and Finance Committee, so those minutes are bound in the volumes of Committee Minutes (ref. IET/ORG/4/2, volume 44 onwards). Signed minutes of the Finance Sub-Committee from its first meeting in 1971 to its last meeting in 1974; signed minutes of the Finance and Management Committee (replaced Finance Sub-Committee) from its first meeting 1974 to its last meeting 1977; and signed minutes of the Finance Committee (replaced F&M Committee) from its first meeting 1977 to its meetings in 2000 can be found in this sub-series, then afterwards in the IET/ORG/4/2 sub-series. Related Board and committee signed minutes such as for the Audit Committee, Investment Sub-Committee, and the Board of IEE Conventions Limited are held in this sub-series from their respective inaugurations until 2001 (as these minutes were originally kept with the signed Finance Committee minutes). Thereafter the signed minutes for these Boards and committees are kept in the IET/ORG/4/2 sub-series.
