- Scope and ContentThe North Eastern Centre was created in 1918 having previously been named the Newcastle Local Section which had been formed in 1899. The Newcastle Local Section had also spun-out the Tees-side Branch in 1912 which was then renamed the Tees-side Sub-Centre in 1919. Records of the Tees-side Sub-Centre can be found at IET/CEN/34. In September 2000, as a result of a strategic review of the Institution's activities and regional operations, the North Eastern Centre, with some minor boundary adjustments, became known as the The Northumbria Branch [information extracted from IEE Council minutes for 2000].
