The Centres are the local groups for geographical events within the IET. In 2001, the Centres had become too bureaucratic and were re-organised into Branches. In 2006, the Branches were renamed Local and Regional Networks, to accomodate both the IEE and IIE structures. Local and Regional Networks then became Networks. This series contains minutes, leaflets, programmes, Summer meeting material, annual reports, accounts and correspondence of the various Centres and Sub-Centres. Loose minutes of Centre and Branch committees, particularly from 2000 can also be found in the sub-series IET Committees and Board at IET/ORG/4. A full list of the development of Centres and Sub-Centres, including when they were Created, Renamed, Merged or Disbanded, can be found in appendix 8 of "A History of the Institution of Electrical Engineers 1871-1971" by W J Reader. Material regarding overseas centres and representative offices of the IET outside of the UK and Ireland, regardless of whether the material was generated in the overseas office or in London, can be found in the IET/OVE series. There is no overseas office material in this IET/CEN series.
