The North Midlands Centre was created in 1918 (previously named the Yorkshire Local Section). The Yorkshire Local Section had been created in 1910 when the Leeds Local Section , created in 1902, was renamed. In 1983, the North Midlands Centre was renamed the Yorkshire Centre - see IET/CEN/38 for Yorkshire Centre records [appendix 8 of A History of The Institution of Electrical Engineers 1871-1971]. There was one spin-off from the North Midlands Centre which was the Sheffield Sub-Centre which was created in 1919 and which was renamed the Sheffield Centre in 1976. This series contains minutes of committee meetings and ordinary meetings, AGMs, sub-committees, sections and the Graduate & Student Committee.
