This series consists of published abstracts, papers presented at conferences and proceedings authored by R H Barker.
It also contains Bumblebee Report No. 42.
Between 1941-1945 R H Barker oversaw a programme on the use of frequency modulation for army communications. He quickly rose in rank and because of his expertise in telemetry reported on the design of the V2 rocket and shortly after was invited to attend the first International Telemetering Symposium at Princeton, USA. This was a collaboration to advance knowledge of missile technology to develop a guided, jet-propelled, anti-aircraft missile, preferably with supersonic speed, to protect the navy task force from Kamikaze threats. It was code named Bumblebee. The Bumblebee project was instigated to defend the task force against this threat. This research had a profound influence on the direction of research by APL (Applied Physics Laboratory). He went on to design a system of telemetry and oversee manufacture of the first successful telemetry guided missile. [A digital copy of this first report is available as part of this deposit].
