Scope and Content
File containing correspondence dated January 1941 to July 1943 between C S Franklin (known for the antenna design bearing his name) and N Wells (of the Marconi College in Chelmsford). The Marconi College, where Mr Wells appeared to be working, was established in the early 1900s to provide training to its staff and customers in the use and maintenance of its products. As is clear from the correspondence in the file, it also carried out experimental work.
The correspondence relates to work that was being carried out on the zig-zag antenna. The file consists of letters and draft patent applications. Test results are discussed, but graphs and data referred to are not present. Many of Franklin's letters were written from the Poldhhu Hotel, Cornwall.
