- Scope and Content1-page typescript letter, marked private, from Henry Charles Gover (Secretary of the Edison and Swan United Electric Light Company) sent to Edward Gimingham. The letter refers to a strike and says; "Dear Mr Gimingham, I waited last night for your report on the strike matter, your messenger arrived too late for me to send a copy on to the Major. I am sending one to him today. I think the report completely and satisfactorily deals with the matter; I have received a further telegram from the Major sent by him after reading my letter, giving him particulars of my conversation with you, to the following effect:- "Birmingham versus London is good Manager should be supported utmost tact and judgement necessary trust able avoid complication." I should advise you to receive the deputation, so that they should not be able to say that you would not hear one side of the question. I should listen to them patiently without any comment or argument, and after they had finished and had no opportunity for replying to you I should judicially and very briefly remark upon the case, concluding by observing that you had no further need of their services but hoped that they might soon find other employment. If I should be of any support to you by being present, I will come down. Yours very truly. H Charles Gover, Secretary."
