- Date22 June 1892
- Scope and Content1-page typescript letterfrom Henry Charles Gover (Assistant Secretary of the Edison and Swan United Electric Light Company) sent to Edward Gimingham. The letter refers to their Crystal Palace Screen and says; "Dear Gimingham, the Major [Flood-Page] has seen Captain Russell about this and the Directors of the Palace are not prepared to make any offer for it. With reference to advertising it for sale, or offering it to some advertising firm, even if you were to find a purchaser, which is very unlikely I think, you would only get a very job [sic] price for it, and you would be throwing 5000 lamps into the market at a small price which would not be desirable. The Major has therefore decided that it is not desirable to offer to sell it as a 'job lot' and that we should therefore arrange to take it down and bring the lamps and material back into our own store. I have telephoned to you saying that it has been decided to take the screen down. Yours very truely H Charles Gover."
