- Scope and Content4-page typescript letter, from Charles Gimingham, Ponders End, and sent to Major Flood Page, Secretary of the Edison and Swan United Electric Light Company. The letter discusses the fittings department at length and begins; "The Fittings Department as you know has been of late occupying my serious attention, and I take this opportunity of writing you my views on the subject." SC MSS 285/1/2 is possibly an earlier draft of this letter. [Note: Samuel Flood-Page had been the manager of London's Crystal Palace, when it staged a major exhibition in 1882, at which Edison's new electric light bulbs were introduced to the British public. As a result of that success, he was hired as Secretary-Manager of the Edison and Swan United Electric Light Company, a position he held from 1883 to 1892 - for further information about Flood-Page see 'Marconi: the man who networked the world', by Marc Raboy]
