On company headed paper (Edison and Swan United Electric Light Company, Limited, Works - Ponder's End, London N) and dated 15 March 1889. Charles responds in the letter to the Secretary's disappointment regarding the position of the Fittings Department. Charles talks about improvements being made and the beneficial impact that will have on costs. He discusses his ideas about the type of fittings they should make ("high class electrical fittings") and raises his concerns about making the Edison Acorn socket ("as at present made simply rubbish. There is no substance or strength in it"). Charles goes on to discuss manufacturing policy, sales and pricing and stock issues.
