- Admin. history/BiographyAlick Barnett joined Eastern Electricity in 1968 having been a Student Apprentice with them since 1964. Between 1989 and 1995 he served as Operations Engineer at Eastern Electricity's headquarters. During this time he was involved with devising and delivering operational safety courses for both company staff and others operating high voltage electrical networks, including a bespoke training course for EuroTunnel Control Room staff, and formulating the company's electrical, operational safety policy. He also wrote Electrical Distribution Safety Rule Approvals and Operational Procedures for Eastern Electricity, introduced new Safety Signs and negotiated and wrote the Code of Practice for entry to Railway Operational Property which was adopted by the Electricity Supply Industry. When he left Eastern Electricity to join Linton (UK) Ltd., a power engineering consultancy service, as a Freelance Electricity Consultant, he continued revising and rewriting Eastern Electricity's Distribution Safety Rules and also wrote Electrical Safety Rules and trained operational staff at Essex and Suffolk Water, Tilbury Docks, Anglian Water, Ipswich Hospital and Crane Ltd until 2003.
