Scope and Content
This WWI poster was found in Savoy Place in 2015. Whilst some government departments did occupy offices in Savoy Place in WWI, there is no evidence to link this poster to their occupation.
The poster has a line of information at the bottom which says, ‘published by the Parliamentary Recruiting Committee, London. Poster No.16 W.13068-345 3/15. Henry Jenkinson Ltd, Kirkstall, Leeds.’ Henry Jenkinson Ltd was the printer and this was published in March 1915.
[Note: This poster is one of many WWI posters that can be found in the Imperial War Museum’s (IWM) poster collections. We know from the IWM website that this poster is a cruder version of poster number 16 which was printed earlier in December 1914 and has the reference W. 8977-191 12/14.]
