Documents relating to the company North Metropolitan (Northmet);
1. North Metropolitan Electric Power Supply Acts, 1900 to 1905. Copy of this government document which was signed by order of the Board of Trade 31 July 1906, and which describes the system to be adopted by the North Metropolitan Electric Power Supply Company for the supply of energy under the acts.
2. Copy of the Enfield District distribution map for the North Metropolitan Electric Power Distribution Co Ltd titled, 'plan of distributing mains laid January 1907'.
3. Original typescript and signed contract between The British Insulated & Helsby Cables Ltd and The North Metropolitan Electrical Power Distribution Company Limited, dated 22 February 1907, related to the installation of the Enfield Distribution System. The contract is signed by two directors of British Insulated & Helsby Cables, Sebastian de Ferranti and Edmund Knowles Muspratt, BI&HC company Secretary W Kerfoot, and the Engineer-in-Chief of The North Metropolitan Electrical Power Distribution Company.
4. Large distribution map showing main transmission lines and feeders circa 1936, titled, 'The North Metropolitan Electric Power Supply Company Area of Supply. The map shows lines throughout the supply area leading from from Willesden Power Station and Brimsdown Power Station.
5. Copy of a letter to the Chief Engineer of Northmet, dated 23 April 1934, from the Secretary of the Electricity Commission, responding to Northmet's formal application for their consent to the continuance with unearthed neutral of the existing 11,000 volt system.
6. Original technical supplement to the 'Northmet handbook' dated February 1944 (with later inserts), covering; substations; transformers, cables, overhead lines; and public lighting. Document contains a significant number of tables and diagrams including public lighting maps.
7. Copy of the, originally private & confidential, document (subsequently acquired by the Library of the Electricity Council in 1984), 'outline of the history of the Northmet Power Company', compiled by E T Kingbury and edited by Evelyn Boys from July 1944 (revised November 1946).
8. Undated map titled, 'North Metropolitan Electric Power Supply Company Area of Supply', and which highlights the individual districts and boroughs covered by Northmet (no transmission lines shown).
9. Recent (21st century), possibly unpublished, typescript document titled, 'electricity supplies in Essex - the first half century' by R G Salmon.
