Diary of Arthur Anstruther-Thomson, Chairman of the Students Committee, recording details of the visit of a Sub-committee of the Students Committee of the IEE to Switzerland in September 1896. The visit ran from 31 August 1896 to 9 September 1896 and the diary records in detail the many factories, tram companies, laboratories and other facilities visited by the party as well as all the social details associated with the trip. 9 pages of this A4 sized diary have been written upon. The Student Committee Secretary, Gerald Allingham and Kenelm Edgcumbe, future IEE President, were two of the members of the party. There is also one enclosure in the diary which is a detailed typescript programme for the visit.
