- Scope and ContentThe National Electronics Research Council, whose Governing Committee first met in October 1963, was incorporated under the Companies Act in July 1964 and was made up of representatives of the electronics industry, government departments, universities and the learned and professional bodies. It was succeeded in 1967 by the National Electronics Council (NEC) which remained an incorporated body. The Council advised government on matters affecting the application of electronics to the national life. The NEC was dissolved in 2000. For the later years of its existance the IEE provided administrative support for the NEC.
