- Scope and ContentFour items. Item 1 - Green/blue bound book. Evershed & Vignoles Ltd. Press Cuttings Book 8. The book contsists of 202 pages numbered in the top corner. The book contains press cuttings pasted into the book from newspapers, articles, exhibitions etc to do with Evershed & Vignoles. Some of the cutting are loose mainly due to failure of the paste. The first press cutting, dated 14th Jan 1949, is from ‘Electrician London’ titled ‘Insulation Testers’. The last press cutting dated October 1951 is from ‘Machinery Lloyd (European Edition)’ titled ‘Process Control’. Inside the first unnumbered page is a brown envelope pasted to the page titled ‘Cuttings from the Physical Society Exhibition Catalogues 1946-50’ Page 8 (and 11,21,23,24,28,31) – An extract from ‘Electrical Times London’ dated 31 March, 1949 detailing the retirement of F.C.Knowles as Sales Manager of E&V (and his appointment as a Director of E&V) and his succession by W.A.Shaw. Page 32 (and 36,42,43) – An extract from ‘Electrical Review’ dated 17 June 1949 detailing the retirement of J.C.Needham as senior M.D. of E&V (but retains his seat on the Board of E&V). Page 59 – Articles dated Sep. 1949 on a girl (June Mary Lovell aged 18) who died after being trapped in a lift at the Acton works of E&V. Page 64 (and 72,81,86,88) – Articles with pictures dated Nov. 1949 detailing the election of D.D.Walker, Joint M.D. of E&V, as vice-president of the British Engineers’ Association. Page 141 (and 148) - An obituary with picture from ‘Electrical Review’ dated 9 March, 1951 for Frank Clement Knowles formerly Sales Manager and Director of E&V. Page 162 (and 163,166) – An article from ‘The Iron and Coal Trades Review’ dated 1 June 1951 detailing the retirement (and appointment to the Board) of G.B.Rolfe from E&V.
