- Scope and ContentGreen/blue bound book. Evershed & Vignoles Ltd. Press Cuttings Book 3. The book contsists of 202 pages numbered in the top corner. The book contains press cuttings pasted into the book from newspapers, articles, exhibitions etc to do with Evershed & Vignoles. The first press cutting, dated 24 April 1930, is from the ‘International Press-Cutting Bureau, 51 Red Lion St., London, W.C.1’ and is an extract from ‘Electrical Times London’ about the fourth annual dinner and dance of the Social and Athletic Association of Evershed and Vignoles. However some later cuttings have earlier dates in 1929. The last press cutting is dated is from ‘Shipbuilding and Shipping Record’ dated 16th June 1932 titled ‘Helm Indicators’. Page 29 - A picture of the Evershed & Vignoles works dated 5 Sep. 1930. Page 73 - Details of the design of the Megger Earth Tester from ‘The Overseas Engineer’ dated June 1930. Page 104 - A picture of Lt.-Col. W.A.Vignoles, D.S.O., M.I.E.E., Director of the Electrical Development Association from ‘The British Trade Review’ dated January 1931. Page 109 - A picture and details of a job move by A.W.Swan, Publicity Manager from E&V to Brush Electrical Engineering Co. Ltd. (Loughborough) dated February 1931. Page 112 – Details of the resignation of Colonel Vignoles from the Electrical Development Association to become Joint Managing Director of E & V dated September 1930. Page 119 – A picture and details of the retirement of E.B. Vignoles as Managing Director dated April 1931. Page 157 – A picture and details of the appointment of F.C. Knowles as Chaiman of the Meter & Instrument Section of the I.E.E. dated Oct. 1931. Also mentions appointment as technical assistant to the M.D. of E&V in 1911 and as Sales Manager of E&V in 1923. Page 195 – A commemoration discourse on the work of ‘David Edward Hughes – a Founder of Modern Communication’ by Sydney Evershed dated March 1932.
