Scope and Content
This series covers material related to Faraday lectures. The Faraday Lecture was founded in 1924 to commemorate the life and work of Michael Faraday. As a pioneer in the field of electricity and electromagnetism, his work laid the foundation for many of today's advances in technology. Over the past 75 years, the lectures have developed a tradition of presenting cutting edge technology in exciting and interactive format. Each lecture has explored a different aspect of electrical and electronic engineering with topics such as digital technology, communications, broadcasting and transport, highlighting the diversity and excitement in this high-technology profession.
The Faraday Lecture is organised annually by the Institution with the support of a sponsoring body and a team of four presenters, all young people working in the engineering field. It is billed as the UK's largest touring lecture and has a tradition of presenting cutting edge technology in exciting and interactive presentations. The aim of the Faraday Lecture is to interest the public and young people in particular, in the world of engineering.
Staging scripts for the lectures which show how film, audio and other material was to be used within a lecture can be found at IET/SPE/3/10/4.
