This folder contains the annual returns made by Evershed and Vignoles to the Government to comply with ‘The Companies Act’ for Companies having a Share Capital between the years 1902 to 1941. There is not a return for every year. The years returned are: 1902, 1906, 1908 – 1914, 1918, 1920, 1922, 1923, 1925, 1928, 1930 – 1941. The information given is the annual breakdown of the Share Capital in the Company and a list of Shareholders. The first entry for April 1902 shows the Company with a Nominal Capital of £30,000 divided into 3000 shares (2000 taken up) of £10 each. The last entry for September 1941 shows the Company with a Nominal Share Capital of £120,000 divided into 40,000 Preference Shares (33,750 taken up) of £1 each and 8,000 (6,750 taken up) Ordinary Shares of £10 each. Item of Interest: Adolph Schneider changed his name to Adolph Vines during the First World War (1914 to 1918) and subsequently became Managing Director of E & V.
