EV437,438 – Staff working for W.T. Goolden & Co. The second photo is the same as the one used in the E&V Golden Jubilee Brochure. The brochure puts the date of the photo as 1891. The people in the second photo are:

Pages 155 to 163 – Photos of Home Guard units. E&V had their own unit. Some of the photos are missing (pp156,159,162,163) and some are loose. On page 162 there are two small loose cut-out figures of guardsmen standing to attention with rifles.
Item 8 – On page 161 there are two loose unmarked small cut-out photos of men standing to attention with rifles.
Item 9 – On page 162 loose small photo dated 16 May 1943 of Home Guard unit, possibly taken outside Evershed factory. On the same page there is a missing large photo of ‘E&V Home Guard Unit, 7th County of London Bn HQ’ Attached to page 162 is a label containing the names of the people in the large photo which was taken on 19th June 1944. The small photo does not match the list of names and may be the unit photo from the previous year.
Item 10 – On page 163 loose large card with two photos attached of Home Guard on parade and marching. The photo on page 163 is missing. The label attached to page 163 is ‘Chiswick Group, 7th County of London Bn. Home Guard, October 1944’.
Item 11 – Loose large photo mounted on card of Home Guard. On the card is the length ‘81/4”’ and ‘133#’. On the back is written in pencil ‘Page 45’.
Book of photographs number 6 with handwritten ‘0-199’ on the spine and front cover. Contains an empty index at the front and photos numbered 1 to 200 on pages 1 to 200 (the page number is the same as photo number). Some of the pages are empty.
The photos are mainly of equipment or equipment being tested either on a bench or in a factory. Other photos of interest are:

Item 2 – Photo 1999 is a copy of the photo of Sydney Evershed hanging in the E&V Boardroom. The photo is dated Feb 1948. With the photo is a cellophane envelope containing three photos of Sydney Evershed in different poses. The photos have numbers EV1999A, C, D. Photo 1999B is missing.

Item 2 – Photo 2045 of E.B. Vignoles has come unstuck and is loose. The photo is dated Nov. 1948.
Book of photographs labelled ‘Photos 16’ with handwritten ‘2200-2399’ on the spine. At the front of the book is an unused A-Z index. The book contains photos with EV nos 2200 to 2399 and dates May 1950 to August 1951. Photo 2286 has been replaced with a loose photocopy. Photos 2368 to 2373 are ‘Stilling Group’ photos from June 1951. Attached to photo 2368 is a typed sheet giving the names of the people in the group and the country to which they belong. One of the group is M.Vines. (Note: This is possibly part of the US Bureau of Reclamation - Hydraulic Investigations and Laboratory Services Group Reports).
