Letter from S P Thompson to 'My dear MacEwan', written at Finsbury Technical College. Thompson advises MacEwan on ways to gain expereince in 'mechanical construction', including working for Vickers Maxim and various engineering companies in Scotland. He advises MacEwan against looking for work in Germany and wasting time on 'electrical fiddling'. He also urges him to continue his technical education. MacEwan appears to be a past pupil of Thompson's from the College.
