He looks back over the last twenty years and discusses his continuing friendship with Abbott and other friends including Chambers, Linthurst, Magrath, Johnson, [Ruhn], Paine, Kitchenson and Finlayson. He also mentions Herschel's research on sound, a visit to Brighton and a Mr Masquierer who lived with Riebau, to whom Faraday was apprenticed as a bookbinder.
