Scope and Content
Letter from St George Lane Fox, electric lighting pioneer, referring to the manufacture of light bulbs. Written from St Stephens Chambers, Moorgate Street [London]. Lane Fox mentions that he uses the glass blower Mr Long, but he would not recommend him. He recommends that Smith go to Hicks in Hatton Garden instead.
Lane Fox also tells Smith about his work on producing bulbs: he unluckily broke a bulb yesterday but is working on another today and he is having some success with using "charred vulcanized fibre" [for the filament].
