- Scope and ContentHe describes the misfortunes of the 'Pearl' aboard which was the Bifilar ordered by him from Ronalds. The 'Pearl' having put into Vigo with cholera on board was plundered whilst in the care of the Spanish authorities. She then set sail for Canada but returned to Plymouth because she feared the St Lawrence River was closed for the winter. The owners of the ship refuse to allow the cargo to be taken off until it reaches its destination. Lefroy discusses what may have become of the bifilar and ways of repairing it if necessary. He also describes some new apparatus he has constructed for measuring atmospheric electricity. Encloses newspaper cutting about the 'Pearl'.
