Reference

Date
1873-01-24
Scope and Content
Written from the Plough and Harrow. Evelyn's uncle coming to the wedding. Going to the house the next day to arrange furniture. Glad she prefers the pitch pine furniture, which is 'so free of superfluity'. Builder is suggesting modifications to the work being done on the house. Still working on lamps, better results in the afternoon. Being undersold by the French though, which could mean a difficult year next year. With comment about an incident in the Channel off Dungeness involving a steamer. With envelope franked 24 January 1873 Birmingham.
