Written from Trinity College Cambridge. Thanking his mother for her letter. He is rowing very badly at the moment but hopes to pull himself together for the races. Asking for copies of the Owens Magazine, and comments on sending a paper for it. Reading Pickwick Papers at the moment 'arrant nonesense' but it makes him laugh. Still thinking about Evelyn.
