- Date16 August 1948
- Scope and ContentThese photographs were taken during the visit of the Argentine Technical Envoy, Don Juan Jose Vistalli, to EMI in August 1948 (the Argentinians were investigating British television at the time). [Note: Don Juan Jose Vistalli was the technical advisor to the Presidential Committee for co-ordination of the Argentine 5 year plan. Don Juan Jose Vistalli was met by Sir Ernest Fiske, Chairman of EMI. Then he was introduced to Issac Shoenberg, Director of EMI Research. Others introduced were J D McGee, J E L Cairns, LF Broadway and B R Greenhead who were part of the team that developed the first practical electronic television system.] The photographs were taken by ACK Ware (photos) Ltd, Pomeroy House, 28A, Basinghall Street, London, EC2, a photographic company that took corporate photographs for EMI. The copyright position is unclear but it is possible that the commerical arrangement between photographic agency and company resulted in EMI holding the copyright. Other photographs by this agency for EMI Records in the 1950s show the copyright holder as EMI Archive Trust/EMI Records. Copyright in these photographs is likely to last until 2018.
