- TitleLetter Sir Charles Bright to W Walsh
- ReferenceUK0108 SC MSS 020/II/58
- Date1870-05-31
- Scope and ContentWritten from St Thomas. Detained at St Thomas waiting for the Dacia which sailed later than he expected. Suffolk has been detained at New York. Message for the Dacia to pick him up from St Thomas may not have been received, so Walsh should tell Mr France and Capt Dowell to get all ready for sea, so as to lose no time when he does arrive. Non essential equipment can be unloaded temporarily as they can go on the Suffolk which will be empty. Also wants Captain Barrett to prepare for sea so that they can leave immediately for Cuba, to complete station connections, lay the cable to the Gulf of Cazone and meet the Dacia there. Will be a delay in settling the landing at Jacmael. Walsh's letters are not very informative.
