From the other end of the volume there are notes which are headed Test of some generalized formulae with the note 'Some at Paignton when doing vols 1 and 2 EMT [Electromagentic Theory]. Mostly after rejection of O[perators in] P[hysical] M[athematics] by the R[oyal] S[ociety]. Additions later. Also collections from earlier work.' Other notes headed The general Bessel function, Other Bessel Generalisation, Binomial Theorem, Logarithmic Series, notes on two functions generalised, dated November 1894, The Factorial function, with final section dated 7 April 1921 and headed 'Note on investigation ... in vol 3 EMT and previous paper, sent to Kelvin' with longer note at the end about divergent series and his influence on Kelvin's work concluding 'But I am distinctly glad now that I was right in my O[perators in] P[hysical M[athematics] Part 3 rejected contumetiously by Larmor and other Cambridge mathematicians, very learned, but destitute of exploring genius.
