Typescript copy of letter to the Principal Clerk of the Commissioners of Sewers from J C Lamb, referring to the Commissioners' permission to lay telegraph and telephone lines so long as they are used "by the Post Office for their own purposes." Lamb points out that all lines laid by the Post Office are for their own puposes, regardless of whether they are rented out afterwards. He also suggests that applying such conditions is not within the remit of the Commissioners. Includes information on the purpose of the lines being laid.
