- Scope and ContentBound volume of notes and correspondence in two portions: first half is notes from Charles Merz to William McLellan dated from 6 March 1901 to 30 April 1901, describing electrical projects and factories which he visits, discussing how these may influence projects which the newly formed partnership were involved in and developing Merz's ideas on electricity supply, with instructions on running the business, including a scale of charges and instructions not to put anyone off by informing them that Merz was away for two months. Companies visited included General Electric at Schenectady and Lynn, Mechanicville plant which supplied power to the Schenectady works, Walworth Manufacturing Company, Lachine Rapids Power Station, British Thomson Houston. second half is copy correspondence from Norbert Merz to his family dated from 6 March 1901 to 1 May 1901, describing in greater detail the social side of their visit including passengers on the liner, the weather, visits to factories and electrical works, visit to New York, Boston, Harvard, Montreal, Buffalo, Cleveland, Chicago, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and Washington.
