Scope and Content
Autograph letter dated from 2 Whitehall Court, London, describing his negotiations with Newcastle Corporation. They agreed to pay £12,250 and the NESCo agree that they can supply themselves, which also saves the cost of a new substation at Neptune Bank, so the total gain is nearly £16,000. The Corporation also agree to take current from NESCo for all future extensions outside Newcastle at the arranged prices, with the Corporation providing all substations and mains if over 1 mile from NESCo cable. This agreement is for ten years, and can be discontinued at that point. Merz wanted to stop future fighting which he feels he has achieved, and also has got what they wanted for Tyneside Tram[ways and Tramroads] Company. The Clause will come before the House of Commons Committee for approval.
