Scope and Content
Autograph letter dated from The Pioneer Ltd, Chicago Milwaukee and St Paul Railway, having received news of death of Mabel. Journey continues from St Paul to Moose Jaw to pick up the Canadian Pacific Railway to Banff. In Chicago they dined with Mr and Mrs Insull and also visited Gary Indiana, which is in the process of being established in connection with the building of the Indiana Steel Company's plant being built at the site of the new town. The plant will start with iron ore and turn out 7,000 tons of steel rails, plates etc in a day. It is to cost £10 million and will all be electrically driven. The town will have a population of 50,000-100,000.
