Letter to his father

Scope and Content
Autograph letter dated from the Queens hotel, Eastbourne, describing Eastbourne as the best laid out English watering place, discussing the London Power case [at which he will be an expert witness], developments in South Durham which he will talk about with his father later. The Weardal Company have accepted proposals to form a company to utilize waste gases and Merz will see Bristow about this as it must be a separate company as it is not 'our area'. The same company might deal with selling to collieries so as to get over the difficulty of low prices for high load factors. Merz cannot decide on the name of the company and has asked Esslemont to discuss it with his father. Merz expects to go into the [witness]box next week for the London Power case and will be glad to get it over as the Cleveland and Durham [Company] and other negotiations alone keep him busy.
