Reference

Date
1905-07-01
Scope and Content
Autograph letter dated from the George Hotel, St Albans, describing the Cathedral, and giving details of discussions with Borsfield, the MP who is going to introduce 'our' Bill into the House of Commons. McLellan is also in St Albans. Merz tells his mother to look out for a letter by Sir George Goldie to be printed in The Times. A note to his father is added at the end of the letter concerning the BET settlement of £4,000 which Merz believes is better than fighting the case and making enemies. He is sure that Garcke expected to get it all so that this is a fair result.
