Reproduction of a cartoon from 'the new yorker magazine' featuring a kitchen with many electrical appliances in use and on the wall a certificate from the American Society of Electrical Engineers. Beneath is written in manuscript 'an American 'plug' for membership in your Association (signed) William L. Batt 1951'. William Loren Batt (1916-2004), a US government official, was amongst other things the Vice-Chairman of the US War Production Board 1941-1945 and Chief of Economic Cooperation Mission in Great Britain from 1950-1952.
