- Scope and ContentTS copy of letter to W H Preece from Marconi. Refers to Marconi's experiments in wireless telegraphy near Salisbury, with Kempe. Describes their experiments with the height of the conductor, using balloons, which failed as the winds were too strong. They constructed kites, but were unable to fly them. They will attempt the experiment with stronger kites or long poles topped with insulated metal. Marconi asks how long he can keep Kempe [an employee of the Post Office] and the two Royal Engineers as assistants. With postscript [added by Preece] on two wires sent to Marconi, informing him that he can keep Kempe and the two Royal Engineers for as long as he wants.
