Title
Letter from Michael Faraday to Thomas Hawkins
Reference
UK0108 SC MSS 093/2
Date
1836-12-15
Scope and Content
Als in answer to query from Hawkins about experiments by Mr Cross[e] in making crystals with electricity. Faraday has heard accounts of the experiments from Buckland, Wherwell, Wheatstone and others but knows noone who has been able to repeat the experiments and is awaiting instructions so that he can try for himself. He encourages Hawkins with his own experiments and considers Hawkins' comment about a possible misprint in the seventh series [of Experimental Researches in Electricity] and points out that the meaning is clear in several other paragraphs.
