Title
Records of the Institution of Electronics and Electrical Incorporated Engineers
Reference
UK0108 IIE/IEEIE
Scope and Content
Records of the IEEIE, founded as the Institution of Electrical and Electronics Technician Engineers (IEETE). The Institution of Electrical and Electronics Incorporated Engineers (IEEIE) and the Society of Electronic and Radio Technicians (SERT), both of which were incorporated in 1965, merged in 1990 to form the Institution of Electronics and Electrical Incorporated Engineers (IEEIE). The IEETE and SERT, were set up in 1965, with the encouragement and support of the IEE and IERE, as qualifying bodies and learned societies for non-Chartered Engineers and Technicians.
The new company was incorporated with effect from 1 February 1990, although the existing two bodies did not transfer their membership until 1 April 1990. The IEEIE existed until 2 April 1998 when it amalgamated with the IMechIE, the IEEIE and the IET (The Institute of Engineers and Technicians) to form the IIE. See IIE/IIE series for subsequent records.
