Administration and Services of the IERE

Date
1935-1989
Scope and Content
The day-to-day business of the IERE was overseen by its chief executive officer, the Secretary, supported by a Deputy Secretary. The work of providing administration and services was carried out in various departments. Some were purely administrative - Accounts, Buildings Maintenance, Conference Organisation and Local Sections Administration. Others provided professional services and support to members and prospective members - these included Enquiries and Membership, Education and Training, the Library, the Register of Consultants and the Benevolent Fund. There was also a General Office for services such as filing, typing and directing enquiries to the relevant department.
Very few records survive from the administrative departments, and hardly any from the pre-IERE period. What does survive is mainly printed material and reports, accounts, examination papers and membership lists.
