Scope and Content
Papers relating to Investors in Industry, a company which had been formed in 1949 to support investment in small to medium-sized companies. Its subsidiary companies included ICFC (Industrial and Commercial Finance Corporation) and FFI (Finance for Industry). Lord Caldecote was asked by the Bank of England to succeed Lord Seebohm as Chairman. He joined as a non-executive Director in 1980, after resigning as Chairman of Legal and General. In 1982, after his retirement from Delta, Lord Caldecote became Chairman, a post he held until his second retirement in 1987.
