Scope and Content
Papers relating to English Electric, English Electric Aviation and the subsidiary English Electric company that remained after the takeover by BAC. Lord Caldecote was a Director of English Electric from 1953 and was responsible for aviation from 1955. For personal correspondence relating to Lord Caldecote's time at English Electric and his resignation from the company, see SC MSS 165/5.
This series consists mainly of correspondence files containing administrative, financial and some technical information on English Electric Aviation's activities. It also includes files on the Canberra and Lightning aircraft, the takeover by BAC and D Napier and Sons, who manufactured aeronautical engines.
