Trade literature for instruments manufactured by Foster Transformers Ltd. The company was formed in 1903 by Mr Foster and Mr Milton Ely as the Foster Arc Lamp and Engineering Company. Later, the company starting manufacturing high voltage transformers, signalling equipment and switchgear. It changed its name to Foster Transformers and Switchgear Ltd in 1919. In 1968 the company was acquired by Thorn Electrical Industries Ltd, at the same time as the acquisition of AVO Ltd, and in 1980 Foster was transferred to the site at Dover.
