Trade literature, press and publicity information and photographs concerning instruments manufactured by Thorn Electrical Industries, later Thorn EMI. The company was formed in 1936 from the companies owned by Sir Jules Thorn, an immigrant from Austria who began as an importer of European lamp and radio components. The company pursued an aggressive acquisitions policy, including the acquisition of AVO Ltd in 1967. In 1980, the company was bought by EMI, forming Thorn EMI.
