Scope and Content
Printed diaries with entries 1938-1945. The entries are mainly technical, covering the development, testing, specification and production of various components including valves, vacuum tubes, coils, switches etc; television sets and radio sets including the No.19 set for the Army, aircraft radio, sets for the Royal Signals School etc. There are also notes from technical development and quality control meetings, and from meetings with various government and military departments including the Ministry of Supply, the Ministry of Aircraft Production, the Telecommunications Research Establishment, the Royal Aircraft Establishment, the Signals Research and Development Establishment and the Admiralty. There are also research notebooks with extensive calculations test results, specifications circuit diagrams sketches as well as notes of technical meetings and discussions with staff from Creed's, E K Cole Ltd (Ekco), Plessey, British Thomson-Houston, Pye, Marconi's Wireless Telegraph Company, the Marconi-Osram Valve Company, STC and Murphy Radio, 1940-1945. There are also a few entries concerning staff and budgets.
