Scope and Content
Collection of printed material and engraved plates relating to lightning and other electrical and meteorological phenomena, magnetism, apparatus used in early electrical experiments, compasses etc. Some items are articles appearing in the Saturday Magazine, the Penny Magazine, The Mirror, The Pictorial Times, the English Mechanic and World of Science and The People's Magazine. Some of the diagrams and engravings are from Philosophical Transactions. Some items are advertisements for lightning conductors, lamps, telegraph charges, tourist trains.
