Printed matter produced by the Electricity Council and its successor the Electricity Association on various subjects including; Electricity Supply Industry technical information; histories of the Electricity Supply in Great Britain; domestic appliances including microwave ovens; the use of electricity and electrical appliances in the home and kitchen; and flexes and cables.
The Electricity Council was a governmental body set up in 1957 to oversee the Electricity Supply Industry in England and Wales. The Council was replaced by the Electricity Association in 1990 and formally wound up by The Electricity Council (Dissolution) Order 2001, made under the Electricity Act 1989.
The Electricity Association was an association of major electricity companies in the United Kingdom. It closed on 30 September 2003 and its services were replaced by 3 other bodies; Association of Electricity Producers; Energy Networks Association; and Energy Retail Association. Copyright ownership of Electricity Council and Electricity Association material passed to the Energy Networks Association.
