Admin. history/Biography
Thomas Arthur Collett was born in Reading in 1890, the son of Thomas Henry Collett and Beatrice Maria (nee Trask). He was apprenticed at British Thomson Houston, Rugby, and in 1915 he married Louie Hopkins, a divorcee. There are no exact details of his career but he appears to have worked for the Shropshire, Worcestershire and Staffordshire Electric Power Company on leaving BTH and stayed there during the 1920s and possibly the early 1930s, before joining the London Power Company where he worked until its nationalisation, in 1948, when he retired. He had one son, Bernard Furnivall Collett, and died on 12 July 1983.
