Scope and Content
The collection comprises the records of the firm from 1937 to the late 1970s. Its importance is due to its survival as almost a complete record of the work of a consulting engineer. It shows the advance of electricity into the home, the change from DC to AC current and its effects on lift services in large buildings. It illustrates the complex planning required for the building of schools and the designs for electric lighting and sound systems in large churches. The collection also illustrates the rise and decline of the firm itself.
